Leonardo DiCaprio Examines Climate Change in ‘Before the Flood’ Documentary Trailer

Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio has long been a proponent of protecting the environment and is currently focusing on the issue of climate change in a documentary titled Before the Flood.

The film made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, and a trailer for it was released Monday. The film follows the actor as he travels around the world and learns about the effects of climate change and possible solutions to it. The trailer shows snippets of his meetings with world leaders, including Pope Francis and President Barack Obama, about the topic.

“We’ve known about this for decades. For half a century,” DiCaprio states in the trailer. “Try to have a conversation with anyone about climate change, people just tune out.”

“We’re knowingly doing this,” he adds. “I just want to know how far we’ve gone and if there’s anything we can do to stop it.”

Fisher Stevens directed the film. Stevens previously won an Oscar in 2010 for Best Documentary Feature for The Cove, which was about dolphin hunting in Japan.

Before the Flood is set to air on the National Geographic Channel starting October 30th.
