Mark Wahlberg & Peter Berg To Re-Team For ‘Mile 22’

Mark Wahlberg is in negotiation with STX Entertainment to team up with director Peter Berg for the action thriller Mile 22, according to The Hollywood Reporter who first reported the news.

The film would be the third collaboration between Wahlberg and Berg, who have previously worked together on 2013’s Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon (due out September 30th, 2016). Berg will direct from a script written by Graham Roland.

“I have had a working relationship with Adam Fogelson that dates back longer than almost any other relationship I have in this town,” said Berg.

“I consider him a genuine talent with a strong understanding of the business. He’s not only a trusted creative collaborator, but a true friend. Mark Wahlberg and I are thrilled to have this project with Adam and the team at STX, and we are excited to be working with Iko Uwais and Ronda Rousey to create a fresh and daring new take on the action genre.”

Mile 22 will follow a CIA agent stationed in Indonesia who is tasked to transport a compromised informant from a city to a getaway plane at an airport 22 miles away. En route to the plane, they are confronted by corrupt police, criminal overlords and heavily armed locals, all determined on taking them out before they reach their destination.

The newly launched film and TV studio, STX, will release its first film, The Gift, starring Jason Bateman, Rebecca Hall and Joel Edgerton, on August 7th. On October 23rd, their second film, The Secret In Their Eyes, starring Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman and Chiwetel Ejiofor, will debut.
