Paramount Pictures Agrees to Release Original Cut of ‘Noah’

Paramount studios have agreed to release Darren Aronofsky’s original cut of the upcoming Biblical epic, Noah.

Paramount was worried that Aronofsky’s version of the film would cause a potential backlash from religious viewers who might take offense to the directors take on the Bible in the film.

Before Paramount agreed to show the directors version of the film, Aronofsky spoke out about the dispute saying, “I was upset-of course. No one’s ever done that to me. I imagine if I made comedies and horror films, it would be helpful. In dramas, it’s very, very hard to do. I’ve never been open to it.”

The director continued, “I had no problem completely honoring and respecting everything in the Bible and accepting it as truth.”

The film is centered on the Prophet Noah, “a man chosen by God for a great tasks before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world,” with a cast that includes Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth and Logan Lerman.

Noah opens in theaters March 28, 2014.
