President Snow Address Panem In New ‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Teaser

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has debuted the first official teaser trailer, and it contains an important message from President Snow.

Snow, played by actor Donald Sutherland, sits on a white throne as he addresses the nation via its “Capitol TV” network.

“Since the dark days, our great nation has known only peace. Ours is an elegant system, conceived to nourish and protect,” the leader, dressed in all-white, commences. “Your districts are the body. The Capitol is the beating heart. Your hard work feeds us, and in return, we feed and protect you.”

Then the camera slowly pans out as the propaganda video becomes even more eerie. “But if you resist the system, you starve yourself. If you fight against it, it is you who will bleed. I know you will stand with me, with us, with all of us. Together, as one,” the President says sternly, with kidnapped Hunger Games victor Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) by his side.

He concludes with, “Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever.”

The teaser follows shortly after a series of “District Heroes” posters were released, which were serving as propaganda, as well.

Jennifer Lawrence reprises her lead role in the franchise’s third installment, alongside Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore and Stanley Tucci, among many others.

Mockingjay – Part 1 opens in theaters on November 21st, with Part 2 following in November of next year.
