Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell Team Up For Holiday Film ‘Spirited’

Funnymen Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell have joined forces to bring us a twist on the holiday classic by Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol.

Reynolds has been known to be fairly active on social media and shared on Twitter and Instagram that filming had begun today on the Apple Original Film, Spirited. We will see his character come in contact with his past, present, and future. Ferrell will portray the Ghost of Christmas Present to Reynolds’ Scrooge, while Glow alum Sunita Mani will be Ghost of Christmas Past. Still no word on whom shall take on the role of the Christmas Future. Octavia Spencer has also joined the cast, with Sean Anders and John Morris taking on writing and directing duties.

Not much is known about the film at the moment, but the premise is described on IMDB as “A musical version of the classic Christmas story by Charles Dickens. A miserly man who treats everyone around him with terrible selfishness finds himself on a fantastical adventure into the three phases of time: past, present, and future, in order to discover how he ended up so miserable and alone.”

No release date is known at the moment, but our guess is late 2021. That’ll be just in time for this holiday season as it isn’t likely Apple will hold this film on the shelf all the way until Christmas 2022.
