The film is based on the biography Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin. The film’s all-star cast includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Hal Holbrook Jr, Tim Blake Nelson, along with many others.

LINCOLN will be Daniel Day-Lewis’s first film since his role in Nine three years ago. One of the best method actors in history, there is a reason Daniel Day-Lewis has only been in five films since 1997. Out of those five films, Day-Lewis has been nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actor four times and won a Golden Globe.

It is not uncommon for DayLewis to go as many as five years between roles. He has been known to stay in character throughout the shooting schedule of the film, even to the point of severely affecting his health and well-being.
