“The Collection,” They Saved the Best for Last

The sequel to 2009’s “The Collector” out does itself and just may be the best horror film of the year – just in time for the holidays. From the writers of “Saw” IV-VI, this bloody good time brings back the psychotic serial killer for another round of over the top killing scenes. After this second film, it would be interesting to see a new face in American horror as iconic as the recent Jigsaw killer.

Starting at a grungy club filled with dub-step music and suggestive dancing, Elena (Emma Fitzpatrick) and her group of friends are stuck in the middle of a slaughter fest when The Collector begins to kill everyone in the club. After releasing Arkin (Josh Stewart, from the first film), he escapes with Elena being the one left alive to be his kidnap victim. Arkin is then blackmailed to return to The Collector’s booby trapped home to rescue her with a group of tough mercenaries, lead by Lucello (Lee Tergesen). The table is then set for complete chaos that’s even more ridiculousness than the first film.

The film combines all sorts of intensity and horror together that will make fans of the genre proud. What makes it different in particular, is that The Collector constantly kills people – being extremely dangerous and pretty much unstoppable. Its not like other typical horror films that has a death every now and then, because there are traps as well as himself going around picking people off the entire time. For people that won’t think “The Collection” is too much in terms of the content/gore, this film is an adrenaline fueled thrill ride that is just pure fun. The film also stars Christopher McDonald.

“The Collection” is now playing in theaters everywhere.
