‘The Dark Knight Rises’: Nolan Asked to Re-Edit Bane Voice

The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20, 2012

Audiences across the world flocked to Imax screens to catch a six minute sneak-preview of The Dark Knight Rises before Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

Then there was only one problem.  No one could understand Bane, the lead villain!

Fans quickly went to Twitter.  One fan was quick to joke, “The Dark Knight Rises prologue was really great, especially when Bane spoke the soon-to-be-classic line: ‘Mmrbl ffrmrff hmrbblfmm.”

Warner Bros is VERY aware of the situation.  One source close to the project says he is “‘scared to death’ about ‘the Bane problem,'” reported THR.

Christopher Nolan (who has been nominated for 21 Academy Awards, winning six) has reportedly told studio executives that he plans to only slightly alter Bane’s voice, rather than starting from scratch.

“Chris wants the audience to catch up and participate rather than push everything at them. He doesn’t dumb things down,” says a high-level Warner Bros executive that declined to be named to THR. “You’ve got to pedal faster to keep up.”

Either way there is a TON of money at stake.

Nolan’s last film, Inception, brought in over $825 million at the box office.  Even more notable, the second film of Christopher Nolan’s Batman francise, The Dark Knight, raked in over $1 billion and broke numerous box office records.

Yes, that’s BILLION with a B!

With $250 million and his own reputation on the line, Christoper Nolan has less than six months to get the issue resolved.

The Dark Knight Rises will open in theaters July 20, 2012.
