“Think Like A Man” Stops “Hunger Games”

Did you hear the cannon? If you know the Hunger Games story, you’ll know the meaning behind that. The box office “cannon” finally fired on The Hunger Games four week reign at number one.

The comedy, based on comedian Steve Harvey’s best selling book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” made an impressive $33 million over the weekend.

When you consider the movie was made for just $13 million, this take is very profitable in only it’s first week of release. That’s a rarity these days at the box office.

Also debuting this weekend were The Lucky One, starring Zac Efron, and the latest in the Disneynature Earth Day series, Chimpanzee. Incidentally, this is the biggest debut of the nature documentaries for Disney.

Here is how the top five movies stacked up over the weekend:

1. “Think Like a Man” — $33.0 mil

2. “The Lucky One” — $22.8 mil

3. “The Hunger Games” — $14.5 mil

4. “Chimpanzee” — $10.2 mil

5. “The Three Stooges” — $9.2 mil
