Titanic on Blu-Ray 3D Sails Onto Shelves Today

Today for the first time ever James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic is being release on both Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray.

There are two different packages of the film being release today: a new four-disc 2D Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack and a four-disc Blu-Ray 3D and 2D combo pack.  In addition to both combo packs coming with a Digital Copy of the film, they also feature over 2 ½ hours of never before-seen-footage including an in-depth exploration of the film with James Cameron.

When Titanic was released on December 19, 1997 it was the most expensive movie ever made at the time.  The film would go on to be the first ever to gross over a billion dollars, a record held for twelve years until the release of James Cameron’s Avatar in 2009.  Titanic was nominated for fourteen Oscars at the 70th Academy Awards and won eleven, including Best Picture and Best Director.
