Will The Next James Bond Be A Woman?

After rumors spread that Daniel Craig would be leaving the James Bond franchise, moviegoers are wondering who will take over the role of the iconic 007.

While many people stated their penchants for Tom Hiddleston, Clive Owen, John Boyega, Aidan Turner, Idris Elba or Damian Lewis – others suggested a Bond of the opposite sex… a “Jane Bond,” if you will.

Gillian Anderson responded positively to the idea, tweeting a response on Saturday to a fan-made poster that replaced Craig with the X-Files actress on the Skyfall poster.

Priyanka Chopra’s name also popped up, with Chopra announcing that she, too, would be interested in playing the suave super agent spy. On Monday, the actress gave a spirited answer to whether she would ever play a Bond girl in an interview with Complex: “I get that all the time,” she said. “But f*ck that — I wanna be Bond.”

Craig seems to be open to the idea of having a female Bond. In an interview with Bustle, he responded: “Sure, yeah, definitely. I think it’s a great idea. If it works it works. That’s the great thing about film is it’s all about imagination so of course it could happen. Not that’s it a huge push, it’s just that anything’s possible.”
