BET Awards: Everything You Need to Know In Case You Missed the Show

The 12th annual BET Awards, hosted by actor and comedian Chris Tucker, took place Sunday evening at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The electrifying award show kicked off with performances by Chris Brown as well as a surprise performance by a flying Nicki Minaj who joined Brown for a performance of Love More.  The two BET Award veterans both took home a four year running award with Brown taking home his fourth Fandemonium Award and Minaj winning her fourth Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award.

The most unforgettable performance of the night was Justin Timberlake presenting Charlie Wilson with the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award. Opening the tribute was a breath taking performance of “There Goes My Baby” by India Arie. Legend Stevie Wonder then took the stage where he performed a crowd favorite, “Burn Rubber on Me. Bringing the crowd to its feet, Charlie Wilson along with Timberlake, Snoop Lion and Pharrell performed “Beautiful”.

Best New Hip-Hop Artist and Best Hip-Hop Artist, Kendrick Lamar, took the stage three times performing “M.A.A.D City”, “B*tch Don’t Kill my Vibe and “Problems with A$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz.  Lamar also received an award for Best Collaboration for his collaboration with 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky and Drake ending the night with three awards.  Also taking home three awards was Drake, who led the evening with 12 nominations. He took home the awards for Video of the Year for Started from the Bottom, Viewer’s Choice as well as Best Collaboration.

All these spectacular moments came to a close with Janelle Monae closing the show with a performance of her hit single “Queen with EryKah Bandu.
