CMT Awards 2014: Winners List and Recap

Carrie Underwood was the big winner of the night at the CMT Awards, taking home the top prize, Video of the Year, for “See You Again.” This was the third consecutive time the former American Idol champion won the award. Underwood also has won the most CMT awards overall, with a total of 11 belt buckles throughout her career.

Kristen Bell served as host for the evening, which was packed with performances from some of the biggest acts in country music. Underwood performed her latest song “Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert, who won Female Video of the Year for the fifth year in a row with her song “Automatic.” Lambert’s husband, Blake Shelton, performed his hit “Boys ‘Round Here” and also picked up a belt buckle for Male Video of the Year for “Doin’ What She Likes.” Some of the other performances included Keith Urban with an intimate version of his hit “Cop Car”, Lady Antebellum and their latest single “Bartender,” and Luke Bryan with his crowd-pleasing song “Play It Again.”

The night didn’t solely belong to country music, as it also featured some acts from other music genres. John Legend teamed up with Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes for a performance of his hit “All of Me.” Jason Derulo also helped open up the show alongside ZZ Top, Florida Georgia Line, and Luke Bryan with a medley of “This Is How We Roll” and “Talk Dirty.”

In addition, there was a special tribute performance to Alan Jackson by Kacey Musgraves and Lee Ann Womack, who sang his No. 1 hit from 1994, “Livin’ on Love.” Jackson was being honored with CMT’s inaugural Impact Award.
