Dierks Bentley Holding Benefit Concert for Arizona Firefighters

Dierks Bentley will headline a fundraising concert to help the families of the 19 fallen firefighters in Arizona.  The country music star will host the “Country Cares Concert” in Prescott Valley, Ariz. on July 22.

The Granite Mountain Hotshots were killed on June 30 near Yarnell, Ariz., while trying to contain wildfires, when winds shifted, cutting off their escape route. According to CBS News, “It was the largest loss of life for firefighters in a single event since the Sept. 11 World Trade Center terrorist attacks in 2001 in New York.”

All proceeds from the concert will benefit the United Phoenix Firefighters Charities, which provide direct assistance to the families of the fallen.  Bentley also invited other performers to the benefit, whom will be announced within the next week.

Bentley told CMT, “I want to help honor the memory of these 19 brave firefighters, to be part of the healing process for the community and to raise money for the families left behind. I was and still am devastated by this tragic event in my home state. I certainly can’t imagine what these families are enduring, but I do believe in the healing power of music and hope as many Arizonans as possible can come out and be part of this event.”

Tickets for the “Country Cares Concert” go on sale Friday, July 12.
