Elton John Teams Up With Lady Gaga On Her New Album

Billboard’s Woman of the Year Lady Gaga has some new music in the works – and it will include a legendary pop star!

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 on Tuesday, Sir Elton John confirmed that he is hard at work writing new tunes with Gaga for her upcoming album.

“I’m writing with Gaga tomorrow,” he told Lowe. “I’ve heard two songs, which are killer. They’re just great songs. It’s like back to the early stuff of hers – like ‘You and I’ and the Bruce Springsteen one (as I always call it), ‘Bad Romance’.”

The duo have previously teamed together making new music for film and TV projects, including a song on the Gnomeo & Juliet soundtrack and another on a Muppets Thanksgiving special.

Gaga, whose 2013 album Artpop did less that expected, told Billboard that John and Cheek to Cheek collaborator Tony Bennett stood by her “when the whole industry turned their backs on [her].”

“[Bennett] is responsible in so many ways for making me happy, and I can say the same for Elton [John],” she said. “They were the ones who said, ‘Hey, this is a blip. It’s going to go away.’”

At this year’s Golden Globes — where Gaga won an award for her performance in American Horror Story: Hotel — the singer revealed that her next album (following 2014’s Cheek to Cheek) is on its way.

“You know, I am putting out an album this year,” she said to reporters. “I won’t tell you when!”
