Flea Promises ‘Super Danceable’ RHCP Album

Bassist Flea revealed to Rolling Stone that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently working on a new album.

“We’ve been writing and rehearsing, rolling up our sleeves, getting in the studio and doing it,” said Flea. “We’re nearly finished writing. We’ll go in the studio sometime in the next couple of months.”

Flea estimated that they have written over 30 songs so far. “It’s cool. It’s super danceable, funky s–t and some real introspective, pretty stuff,” he said of the new music. “It feels good, man, and it’s fun to play it.”

He added that the new album is coming along much smoother than the previous record I’m With You now that guitarist John Klinghoffer, who replaced John Frusciante in 2009, has been with the band for a few years.

“We had a new guitar player [Josh Klinghoffer] and it was a real feeling-out process with each other,” Flea explained. “We didn’t want to play gigs with him until we’d made a new record. This time, it feels a lot better than the last one.”

There is currently no release date set for the release of the band’s eleventh studio album. “I would hope that in a year from now, we have a record out and we’re on a world tour,” Flea added.
