Lionel Richie Is Number One (Again)

Lionel Richie hasn’t had a number one album in 26 years. It took a collaboration between Richie and various artists singing country versions of his famous songs to get back on top.

Tuskegee, named after Richie’s Alabama hometown, includes duets with some of the biggest names in country music including Shania Twain, Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts, and Tim McGraw. Jason Aldean joins Richie in a really cool rendition of “Say You, Say Me.”

The album debuted at number two behind Madonna in it’s first week of release but has since outsold other chart toppers INCLUDING Adele’s 21.

Upon hearing the news that he was once again on top of Billboard’s 200 chart, Richie tweeted, “I am ecstatic about being #1. I couldn’t have done it with my fans, the great artist on the album and my amazing team. -Lionel”
