Mariah Carey Receives Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Five-time Grammy Award winner Mariah Carey received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday. The singer is considered one of the most success acts in music, with 18 No. 1 hits and over 200 million albums sold over the course of her twenty-five year career. She was chosen to receive a star back in 2007.

Her star is located outside the W Hotel on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Avenue. Lee Daniels, who directed her in Precious, and Brett Ratner, who has directed many of her music videos, were in attendance to pay tribute to her as well as music producer L.A. Reid and BET president of programming Stephen Hill.

During his speech, Daniels revealed that Carey would be coming to season two of Fox’s Empire. It is currently unknown what her role on the show will be.

When Carey took the stage to express her gratitude to her fans and guests, she brought her twin children, Moroccan and Monroe, with her.

“Really, you’re melting my heart. You’re making me cry, and that’s why I’m keeping on my sunglasses. But I cannot thank you enough. This is a huge honor,” she said.

Following the ceremony, a luncheon was held in her honor at the Roosevelt Hotel.

What an incredible day. Thank you #lambs #lambily and everyone who made it happen. ⭐️ #star #hollywoodwalkoffame
