Queens of the Stone Age Recording New Album This Year

Queens of Stone Age’s New Year’s resolution is to get back into the studio and record a new album before the end of 2014.  QOTSA’s sixth studio album …Like Clock Work was just released last June, but frontman Josh Homme said the band will get back in the studio to record a follow-up to their last album.

“We have more than enough songs. We’re booked til September, but after that we plan to jump in the studio and get going,” said Homme.  According to the 40-year-old singer, the secret to a successful recording session is not to just be a “control freak, but to be a freak in control.”

“When it’s time to make music, that’s about getting lost for me. To be a control freak is not half as good as being a freak who’s casually in control. You’re feeling around in the dark for something that feels good. As long as you’re not in an orgy, that can be an amazing moment.”

QOTSA are currently on tour.  The band aired a special 1-hour performance on Saturday night for PBS’s “Austin City Limits”.
