Shawn Mendes’ Debut Single “Life of The Party” Becomes Instant Hit

Island Record’s most recent signee, Shawn Mendes has landed in the No. 1 spot on iTunes with his debut single “Life of The Party.” The song was released on Saturday, June 26, and became an instant hit, storming up the iTunes chart within 90 minutes of release.

Shawn got his rise-to-fame using the digital platform Vine to record himself performing acoustic renditions of popular songs that quickly spread across the internet, grabbing the interest of big names like Ed Sheeran and Nash Grier. Thanks to his amazing covers of A Great Big World’s “Say Something,” Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” and others, the 15-year-old singer-songwriter has become a viral online sensation and one of today’s most buzzed-about young artists.

To date, Shawn has racked up over 13 million YouTube views. His clips have spread across Vine (over 2.6 million follwers), YouTube (over 610,000 subscribers), Instagram (over 1.3 million followers), Twitter (over 1.2 million followers), Facebook (over 355,000 followers), and every online social outlet imaginable.

This summer, Shawn will hit the road for the first time as he joins label mates Austin Mahone, The Vamps and Fifth Harmony on tour. Check out the brand-new lyric video for “Life of The Party” below and watch out for Shawn’s debut EP dropping on July 21.
