Taylor Swift Releases “Shake If Off” Music Video, Announces New Album

Taylor Swift premiered her new single “Shake It Off” Monday during a live stream on Yahoo and ABC News, as well as a music video for the song, which is an uptempo number that features Swift performing a rap interlude.

The “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer shared that her next album will be titled 1989, the year she was born, and revealed the album’s cover and release date, October 27. There will also be a deluxe version of the album, which will include three bonus tracks that are voice memos Swift recorded on her phone.

“The inspiration behind this record, I was listening to a lot of late 80’s pop … I really loved the chances they were taking, how bold it was,” said Swift. “It was apparently a time of limitless potential, the idea you could do what you want be what you want … the idea of endless possibility was kind of a theme in the last two years of my life.”

“That photo you are seeing is a Polaroid we took, we took the album photos on Polaroids,” she said of the album’s cover, pictured above. “It was kind of an accident, so I figured why not make that photo the album cover?”

“For the record, this is my very first documented pop album,” she added, saying this is her favorite album of hers to date.
