After being featured prominently in the smash hit film Ghost, the Righteous Brothers’ version of “Unchained Melody” returns to the top of the UK charts after 25 years.
1990
“Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice became the first rap record to top the US singles chart. The track was initially released as the B-side to the rapper’s cover of “Play That Funky Music”, and became the A-side after US DJ’s started playing the track.
1992
Bon Jovi released their fifth studio album, Keep The Faith, which spent a total of 49 weeks on the US chart. The album produced three Top 40 hits: “Keep The Faith,” “Bed of Roses” and “In These Arms”.
1995
Hootie and the Blowfish reached an out-of-court settlement with Bob Dylan for an undisclosed amount after courts rule the adult alternative powerhouse of a group lifted lyrics from Dylan’s “Tangled Up In Blue” for their hit “Only Wanna Be With You.”

The live Bee Gees CD One Night Only was released in the U.S.

Sean “P. Diddy” Combs ran in the New York marathon (Nov. 2nd) and raised $2,000,000 for the educational system for the children of New York. The hip-hop and fashion entrepreneur ran the 26.2-mile course in the official time of four hours, 14 minutes and 54 seconds.

Donny Osmond guest starred on ABC’s soap opera All My Children.
2009
Carrie Underwood released her third studio album, Play On, which was her second album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned three consecutive Billboard Hot Country Songs number one singles – “Cowboy Casanova,” “Temporary Home” and “Undo It.”
2013
The first ever YouTube awards were held in New York City. The event featured Eminem, Lady Gaga and M.I.A making live music videos directed by the awards’ creator, Spike Jonze, and others. Eminem won Artist of the Year, while Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” took the YouTube Phenomenon award.
