Trey Songz Scores Second No.1 Album with ‘Trigga’

Trey Songz has scored the second No. 1 of his career with his brand-new album Trigga. The R&B singer’s recently-released, sixth studio album stormed to the top of this week’s Billboard 200, selling 105,000 copies in its first week on shelves and earning Trey his first chart-topping record since 2012.

After receiving the news of his album’s success, Trey took to Twitter to thank his supporters. “Thank you to everyone who went and spent their hard earned money on my album. #TRIGGA #1 because of you all. I’m forever grateful. #LOVE,” he wrote.

Two years ago, Trey’s fifth studio album Chapter V also opened at No. 1, selling 135,000 copies in its first week. The album outperformed his previous releases on the charts, including 2010’s Passion, Pain & Pleasure, 2009’s Ready, 2007’s Trey Day, and 2005’s debut I Gotta Make It.

While Trigga sits gloriously atop this week’s albums chart, the album marks Trey’s smallest opening sales week for a full-length album since 2007 when Trey Day opened at No. 11 with a lowly 73,000 copies sold.

Trey Songz’s sixth studio album, Trigga, is available online and in-stores now. The album features hit single “Na Na,” which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in April.
