Verdict Reached In Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Lawsuit

A jury of six men and six women have returned a not guilty (not negligent) verdict in the wrongful death lawsuit of pop superstar Michael Jackson Wednesday afternoon.

The suit, brought forth by Jackson’s mother, Katherine, claimed concert giant AEG Live was negligent in Jackson’s death by hiring Dr. Conrad Murray.  Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for his involvement in administering Jackson an overdose of the anesthetic propofol in 2009.

Katherine Jackson claimed AEG Live should have done a more thorough background check on Murray before hiring the doctor.

AEG Live denied hiring Murray and said he had been picked by the singer as the doctor for his upcoming shows.

The jury began deliberations on Sept. 26 in a trial that lasted more than five months.
