Your Guide to the Best of Lollapalooza

This weekend over 130 acts performed at Chicago’s Grant Park for the three-day music festival, Lollapalooza. About 300,000 people came out to the big annual event, which was celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Eminem was the headliner Friday, whose set list included “White America,” “The Way I Am,” and “Kill You.” Rihanna made a surprise appearance during his set to perform “Love the Way You Lie,” “Stan,” and “Monster” with him. Eminem concluded his set with “Not Afraid” before coming out to do an encore of his Oscar-winning song “Lose Yourself.”

Lorde also performed on Friday, singing almost all of the songs from her debut album Pure Heroine, including hits “Royals,” “Team,” and “Tennis Court.” The 17-year-old songstress was overwhelmed by the size of the crowd, stating that she was “at a loss for words,” which doesn’t happen often.

OutKast closed out day two of the event, marking the hip-hop duo’s latest festival appearance to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Fireworks blasted from behind them as they performed, and they even had a horn section backing them up.

Kings of Leon hit the stage Sunday night, and they naturally played their biggest hits “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire.” However, they surprised the crowd with an unexpected cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own.” It was the first time the band ever performed their stripped-down version of the song in concert.

Another highlight Sunday night was Skrillex helping to close out the weekend’s festivities with an explosive performance that featured stunning background visuals and an electrifying light show.
