Cleveland Browns Issue A Statement Towards Players Disturbing Instagram Post

Cleveland Browns running back, Isaiah Crowell, is in hot water after posting a picture regarding the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

The Instagram post portrayed a man dressed in black slitting the throat of a police officer. The caption read “Mood: They give polices all types of weapons and they continuously choose to kill us…#Weak”.

The photo was posted after the deaths of the two men, but was posted before the shooting in Dallas, TX where five officers were killed. Crowell has since deleted the post and issued an apology through Twitter:

Crowell did show regret in his insensitive post but the Cleveland Browns believe that it wasn’t enough.

According to ESPN, the Browns organization stated “We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision. It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment.”

“Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post”. Which is true. After his apology, Crowell called Cleveland police chief Calvin Williams to personally apologize.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy was asked if the league had a response, saying “The image was inappropriate and insensitive. He realized this, took down the post and has since apologized.”

There is no word if the Browns will take further action towards Isaiah’s post.
