Rockets’ Dwight Howard Closer to Return

Houston Rockets Center Dwight Howard may be much closer to returning than expected.

For the first time in months Howard’s status changed from “Out” to “Doubtful” for Monday night’s game at the Indiana Pacers. Howard has not played since January 23rd and missed 23 games since due to fluid buildup in his right knee. Howard also missed 11 games earlier in the season due to an injury in the same knee.

Howard said, “I haven’t circled a day, but hopefully the next couple games I’ll be back.” If Howard does not return Monday night at The Pacers he could possibly be upgraded to “Questionable” for the Wednesday night game against The New Orleans Pelicans.

The Rockets could definitely us Howard at the moment since just recently losing Power Forwards Terrence Jones to a partially collapsed lung and Josh Smith to calf injuries although Smith has been listed as “questionable” for tonight’s game against The Pacers.

Howard’s absence has not stopped the MVP front runner and current scoring champion, James Harden, from helping the team to a 3rd place standing in the western conference; even scoring 50 points on March 19th against the Denver Nuggets.
