HOUSTON – The final 42 “American Idol” singers have been chosen, but the group performances in Las Vegas were no easy tasks leading up to the eliminations.

“American Idol” judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez watched as the singers formed groups once again, like in Hollywood, but this time were expected to perform songs from the 1950s and 1960s.

Cari Quoyeser from Houston was among the singers who were eliminated during the Las Vegas group performances.

The competition now shifts to solo performances and the judges must select the top 24 singers.

Dave Morales from Backstage OL, with help from singer Arielle Deguerue, analyzes the auditions in this edition of ‘Idol Chatter.’ Houston native Deguerue was among the singers eliminated during the Hollywood audition rounds.
