‘American Idol’ Renewed For 14th Season

Fox Television has announced that American Idol is being renewed for its 14^th season.

Since the network cut The X Factor from it’s programming in January, the renewal for a 14^th season was never in question. As far as ratings go, the show has had a 28 percent decrease in the key adult demographic of 18-49 year olds and averages 12.3 million viewers per episode. While the 13^th season has seen an increase in record lows, the season average still sees heavy viewership during audition weeks.

At this time, it remains unknown as to which judges will return for the 14^th season. After a conflict heavy season 12, this year’s panel of judges have received favorable reviews. However, Jennifer Lopez is set to star in an NBC drama that begins production in 2015, making it unclear on whether or not she can balance both commitments. Meanwhile, long time host Ryan Seacrest is in negations to return to the show, according to Deadline.

The singing competition will stop in 15 cities for auditions starting June 18^th in Minneapolis, MN.  Idol will also be stopping in New Orleans, LA, Long Island, NY, Nashville, TN, San Francisco, CA Portland, OG, Columbus, OH and more to find America’s next superstar.

The 13^th season of American Idol comes to a close on May 21 on Fox.
