  • “Red Tails,” the motion picture directed by George Lucas about the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, premieres Friday, Jan. 20 throughout the U.S.; but it premiered to the world in Houston first.
  • Have Coldplay and Rihanna formed a ‘supergroup?’ For at least one song, they have; they will perform “Princess Of China” together during the 54th Grammy Awards. And who will serve as the host of the awards ceremony? Rapper and actor L.L. Cool J.
  • Violinist Joshua Bell will perform Friday, Jan. 20 at Jones Hall in downtown Houston and his show will include selections by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Ravel, Ysaye, Gershwin and more. He also contributed toward the soundtrack for “The Flowers of War,” a motion picture starring Christian Bale.
  • Led Zeppelin 2 – A Tribute to Led Zeppelin will perform Saturday, Jan. 21 at the House of Blues – Houston as part of the Scion Concert Series.
  • The live throroughbred horse racing season begins Saturday, Jan. 21 at Sam Houston Race Park.
