Barbara Walters Returning to ‘The View’ Six Weeks After Retirement

A little over a month since her retirement, Barbra Walters is will be making her first guest appearance on ABC’s The View.

The former co-host will be returning to the talk show on Friday June 27th in order to promote her impending special edition of 20/20 where she interviews Peter Rodgers, the father of Elliot Rodgers, the mass murder responsible for the killing spree near the University of California, Santa Barbra in May.

Three weeks after Walter’s retirement, ABC announced the veteran journalist would be returning for the special with Rodgers after he specifically requested for Walters to conduct the interview.

Walters, who conducted the interview on Sunday, posted a preview photo to her Twitter where she wrote, “Sat down earlier today with Peter Rodgers, father of the Santa Barbra shooter. Watch Fri on @ABC2020.”

Walters return to broadcast television is not much of a shock. After 17 season and 50 years in the business, she expressed to viewers that her retirement in May was not a goodbye, but rather a “see you later.”
