Known for their Saturday Night Live sketches, feature movies and the House of Blue venues across the United States, The Blues Brothers are back at it again!

According to Variety, Dan Akroyd and Judy Belushi (John’s ex-wife) are pitching a new TV series to the networks.

Executive producers for the show include SNL writer Anne Beatts, Eric Gardner of Panacea Entertainment and Judy Belushi. “The Official Blues Brothers Revival” duo Kieron Lafferty and Wayne Catania are set to star in the upcoming television series where Akroyd will be taking on the role of the brothers’ parole officer.

Judy Belushi told Undercover:

“I’ve written a script with one of the Saturday Night Live writers, Anne Beatts, and with Kieran and Wayne. The way we have scripted it over 6 to 8 shows where they are on a mission down the Mississippi back to New Orleans. The Blues Brothers are great American characters. People tend to think of them as John and Dan. They were the first actors to do it but they won’t be the last. When you see Kieran and Wayne you will see how they embody those characters and make them work. There is a spirit of Blues Brothers. It is an umbrella for the Blues”.

“The show is about what music does for your soul, the uplifting and all elements of despair. We always come back to humor in the blues. Between laughing and the way music plays are two really important elements in your life and to touch upon. It lightens your load and invigorates your soul”.
