Bryan Cranston Developing New Comedy for Television

Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston will soon be working on a new television series. However, this time he will be working behind the camera.

Cranston’s production company, Moon Shot Entertainment, recently optioned the rights to children’s book The Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn and Hal Iggulden. Moon Shot hopes to develop it into a comedy series about three boys growing up without a father and how they develop creative ways to survive on their own.

The Dangerous Book for Boys serves as a guidebook with instructions for various activities, such as how to make tree houses and paper airplanes that fly long distances. It also includes various articles about topics including historical figures and battles.

“In this age of video games and cellphones, there must still be a place for knots, tree houses, and stories of incredible courage,” the authors state in the introduction. The book was a bestseller in 2006 in the U.K. and since then has been adapted for the U.S. and other countries.

Moon Shot Entertainment’s focus is on creating comedy and drama series for television networks. According to Variety, Cranston said Moon Shot Entertainment’s aim is to “look for unusual perspectives and storytelling techniques.”
