Chelsea Handler Ending Talk Show In December

After hosting her talk show Chelsea Lately for eight years on E!, Chelsea Handler has decided to call it quits once her contract expires at the end of this year.

“Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires,” Handler’s manager, Irving Azoff, announced. “She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.” Her manager also added that she may move on to radio, host another talk show on a different network, or even have her own show on Netflix.

Handler has previously expressed her dissatisfaction with the E! network. A few weeks ago on Howard Stern’s radio show, she stated that the network is a “sad, sad place to live.” She added, “They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.”

Handler, who is currently the only female late night talk show host on television, makes about $9 million from her show and has 572,000 viewers a night on average. E! released a statement about Handler’s soon departure, saying, “Chelsea has nine months left on her contract and E! will not comment on the future of Chelsea Lately at this time.”

Handler recently released a book entitled Uganda Be Kidding Me, which hit No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. She is currently on a 30-date stand-up tour across the country.
