Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn Star in True Detective Season 2

HBO has announced cast members for season 2 of the acclaimed crime drama True Detective.

HBO has confirmed that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star in two out of the four lead roles for season 2 of True Detective. Season 2 ofTrue Detective will be about three police officers and a career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of Ben Caspar’s murder, a corrupt city manager of a fictional California town.

Farrell will take on the role of Ray Velcoro, a detective torn between dealing with both a corrupt police department and the mob. Vaughn will take on the role of Frank Semyon, a life-long criminal in danger of losing his empire. Justin Lin has been confirmed to direct the first two episodes of the eight-episode season with True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto.

So far Farrell and Vaughn are the only cast members confirmed for the show, but HBO says more casting will be announced as it is confirmed. Pizzolatto is still putting the finishing touches on the script for season 2, but the HBO series will begin production later this fall in California. A premiere date has not been set.
