First Look: Netflix’s ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events’

Do not watch this teaser. Seriously, don’t. Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) cordially invites you to not watch Netflix’s upcoming original program A Series of Unfortunate Events. But why would the author of the best-selling children’s novels want you to avoid a show based on his novels? Snicket wants you to skip the upcoming adaptation of the story of Baudelaire orphans, Violet (Malina Weissman) and Klaus (Louis Hynes), because he is saving us from the “cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what’s to come.”

For those who do not heed his advice, mark your calendar for Friday, January 13, when all eight episodes of A Series of Unfortunate Events are dropped onto Netflix. Besides Warburton, the series also stars Neil Patrick Harris as the evil Count Olaf (the role Jim Carrey played in the 2004 film) and Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss. Listen closely as you can hear NPH’s ominous voice in the background.
