‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival: Premiere Date Set, Teaser Released

Gilmore Girls is returning this Thanksgiving!

Netflix announced Wednesday that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will premiere on Friday, November 25th at 2:01am CST. The streaming site also released a teaser for the revival.

Gilmore Girls originally aired for seven seasons on the WB and the CW from 2000 – 2007. Its Netflix revival will consist of four ninety-minute episodes with each one focusing on one of the four seasons, titled “Winter,” “Spring,” “Summer” and “Fall.” Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, and more are all returning to reprise their roles. Show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Dan Palladino wrote, directed, and executive produced all of the episodes.

At the TCA conference in Los Angeles Wednesday, Graham, Bledel, Patterson, Sherman-Palladino, and Palladino were on hand to talk about the revival.

“It was literally like no time had passed. It was not difficult,” Graham said about returning to the role of Lorelai Gilmore. “It was exhilarating. It was the old show. There was no sense of having to resuscitate something. It was meant to continue.”

Bledel also provided a teaser about her character’s love life. “All of [Rory’s] ex-boyfriends make an appearance in these chapters in one way or another. People’s questions are answered by the end of it,” she said.

In addition, the return of Melissa McCarthy for a brief appearance was discussed. “She came on one of our last days and it was just incredible,” Graham said. “If, for some reason, had that not happened, we would have felt a gap in what we were trying to do. …It just made it even more perfect than it already was.”
