‘Jeopardy’ Contestant Makes Alex Trebek Say ‘Turd Ferguson’

A Saturday Night Live reference was made by Alex Trebek on Jeopardy! this week thanks to one of the contestants.

Talia Lavin did not know the answer to the Final Jeopardy question. Therefore, she decided to give a creative answer and trick Trebek instead. The clue was “This song from a 1999 animated film about censorship had a word censored from its Oscar performance.” The answer was “Blame Canada” from South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut. Lavin wrote her answer of “What is ‘The Love Ballad of Turd Ferguson.’ P.S. Hi Mom.”

Trebek had to read her response aloud, which caused the audience to laugh. The name Turd Ferguson was used in a classic SNL sketch, in which Norm Macdonald portrays actor Burt Reynolds during a game of Celebrity Jeopardy. His character ends up bullying Trebek into calling him Turd Ferguson because “it’s a funny name.”

The real Trebek wasn’t phased when he read off Lavin’s answer. Watch the clip below:
