Jon Stewart Announces $10 Billion Kickstarter to Buy CNN

After reports that business magnate Rupert Murdoch is hoping to buy Time Warner, Jon Stewart announced on The Daily Show Tuesday that he’s launching a Kickstarter campaign for $10 billion to buy CNN. Murdoch would most likely have to put the cable news channel up for sale if he is successful with the purchase.

“It’s a lot of money for anyone,” said Stewart. “But not a lot of money for everyone.”

Stewart asked viewers to go to LetsBuyCNN.com to donate to the project. The site mimics the look of a Kickstarter page, but does not actually let people contribute to it.

“CNN, America’s first 24-hour cable news network, has been terrible for many, many years. Does it have to be that way? Who knows, maybe it does. So let’s find out for ourselves!” the site reads.

Some of the hypothetical rewards include CNN airing a 24-hour 2-week hunt for your lost car keys with a donation of $5 million and the chance to host a CNN anchor Hunger Games fight to the death with a pledge of $1 billion.
