Rihanna Joins Final Season of ‘Bates Motel’

Rihanna is checking in at the Bates Motel!

During the Psycho prequel series’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, it was revealed that the singer will guest star on Bates Motel as Marion Crane during its fifth and final season. Janet Leigh played the role of Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho, in which the character was stabbed to death in the shower.

“We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way,” Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin, the show’s executive producers, said in a statement. “We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.”

Cuse posted a video on Twitter of Rihanna announcing her new role:

Rihanna’s previous acting credits include Battleship and Annie. She is also set to star in 2017’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

The final season of Bates Motel will air on A&E in 2017.
