Superman & Lois: A Brand New Beginning

A New Beginning

It has been 23 years since the small screen adaptation of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The program ran for almost 100 episodes and closely focused on the relationship between reporters Lois Lane and Clark Kent/Superman. Since that time, that dynamic partnership has only been explored in comics and animated DC adventures, until now.

The newest iterations of Superman and Lois Lane were introduced during the CW network’s Crisis On Infinite Earths television crossover. Many are excited to finally be revisiting this relationship and the inner workings of the partnership. During DC Fandome pt. 2, Superman & Lois show-runner Todd Helbing spoke on the nature of the new program.

“Clark and Lois are married with two teenage sons in this show.  This show will lean into Clark and Lois parenthood, more than world famous journalism. What does it mean to be the most powerful man on the planet, and being a father.”

Superman & Lois major underlying theme will be about parenthood and raising children. There will be plenty of amazing adventure for Superman, but Todd Helbing wanted the show to ultimately land in a place close to home. Superman is not just great because he’s strong. Lois is not just great because she’s an amazing journalist. They are both great because no matter what comes their way, they strive to raise the next generation as best they can.

Superman & Lois premiering on the CW Network January 2021.
