‘Taboo’ Trailer: New Footage From Tom Hardy’s Period Mini-Series

When FX introduced The Shield in 2002 it transformed the network, showcasing groundbreaking series (see also It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, American Horror Story) as well as programs that were too ahead of its time (the short-lived Terriers). But when you hear that Academy Award nominee Tom Hardy is making the jump from the big screen to the small screen your ears and eyes perk up.

He’s got an eight-part series called Taboo that will play on FX and the BBC. A period shipping drama set in 1814, Taboo follows Hardy as James Keziah Delaney, a man thought to be dead who returns to London to reclaim his father’s shipping empire and rebuild his life. Let’s just say not everyone is glad he’s back in the picture.

The series is the brainchild of Hardy and his father Chips Hardy, along with Steven Knight, who has written and directed several features including Locke starring Tom Hardy. Ridley Scott serves in an executive producer capacity.

Joining Hardy in this period series is Jonathan Pryce, Oona Chaplin, Stephen Graham, Michael Kelly, Jessie Buckley, David Hayman and Tom Hollander.
