‘The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’ Debuts on NBC

Jimmy Fallon made his debut as host of “The Tonight Show” Monday evening and with huge support. The show began with a parade of celebrities walking up on stage and dumping on Fallon’s desk the $100 they had each bet that he would never make it to host “The Tonight Show”.

The line began with Robert De Niro, then with Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Lindsay Lohan, Mike Tyson, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga and other celebs following behind. Fellow talk show host Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central appeared on stage to pay his dues, pouring a bucket of pennies on Fallon’s desk and down his neck. Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani also stopped by, thanking Fallon for returning “The Tonight Show” to New York (then-host Johnny Carson took the show to Los Angeles in 1972).

The episode continued with Fallon interviewing the new show’s very first guests Will Smith and U2. Fallon’s guests for the rest of the week will include Jerry Seinfeld, Justin Timberlake and Michelle Obama.
