X Factor Xtra: Finale Performances and Backstage Interviews

HOUSTON — The first season of “The X Factor” in the U.S. ends with a two-night finale featuring plenty of special guests in addition to the performances from finalists Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajick and Chris Rene.

Amaro, Krajick and Rene each performed two songs. The first round of performances were duets with established singers with one of their signature songs.

Krajick began the night with his rendition of “Uninvited” by Alanis Morrissette from the “City of Angels” soundtrack. Halfway through the song, Krajick introduced Morrisette herself and the two performed the remainder of the song together.

Rene next performed “Complicated” by Avril Lavigne and welcomed her on stage for their duet.

Amaro ended the first round of duets by singing “I Believe I Can Fly” with the always-controversial R. Kelly.

The finalists were next expected to perform the songs they first sang during the preliminary auditions.

Krajick played acoustic guitar as he sang “At Last” by Etta James. Rene performed “Young Homie,” a song he wrote and introduced to the world in his first audition. Amaro sang “Listen” by Beyonce.

The votes will be counted and the winner will be announced Thursday, but not without more special guests including Pitbull, Ne-Yo, and Justin Bieber among others.
