Amy Winehouse Death: Reactions

BackstageOL.com was one of the first to report the passing of 27 year old singer Amy Winehouse.

There are some news agencies already reporting cause of death. There has been no official word as of yet. An autopsy has been ordered and will be performed tomorrow (Sunday).

There are initial reports that first responders did not see signs of “foul play”.

Reaction from the entertainment world has been massive.

BackstageOL.com spoke with some artists today to get their thoughts.

Jonathan Cook, lead singer of Forever The Sickest Kids, told us, “I was heartbroken when I found out driving down to the airport from a show we had just played and since I am 27 myself it reallly hit me. My prayers go out to her family and close friends.”

Chad Wolf of Carolina Liar said “this is a real tragedy. She changed the entire music industry. It’s just a sad sad day. She will be really missed.”

Songwriter Mike Krompass, who is currently on tour with Smashmouth, says “I’m not totally surprised, but it’s saddening. Her music has had such an impact on so many.”

Many artists took to their social networking sites to express their thoughts and reactions.

Fitz And The Tantrums wrote on their Facebook page- “A moment of silence for Amy Winehouse- a rare and incredible force of nature who we were blessed to have with us, however briefly.”

Katy Perry:
“RIP Amy Winehouse. May she finally find peace.”

Ryan Seacrest:

Rihanna:
“Dear God have mercy!!! I am SICK about this right now! #DearAmy”

Ricky Martin”

“So so so so sad. Blake should be made to pay for getting the most talented girl of our time hooked on what killed her.”

Demi Lovato:
“Amy Winehouse.. So sad. Unfortunately the world lost an incredibly talented woman to such a powerful disease… addiction. #RIP”

Eva Longoria:

Pamela Anderson:

Kelly Clarkson:
“I heard the news about Amy Winehouse. I’m incredibly sad. I didn’t know her but I met her a few times….”

“She was the closet thing we have ever had to Billie Holiday, she was a true soulful talent. I’m so sad. I hope she is at peace.”

Kelly Osbourne:
“i cant even breath right my now im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!”

She then wrote:
“i miss my friend! im going to be off twitter for a while thank you for all your support! #pray4amy

Osbourne has been credited with trying to help Winehouse get rehabilitated recently.

Osbourne then tweeted this picture of her and Winehouse.
