Larry Crowne Might Be A Perfect Movie

I said it. And I am willing to back that statement up.

Of course, how “perfect” the movie is will be up to box office totals and what you (the fan) thinks.

Is it a “date” movie? Yes. Is it a movie for everyone? Yes. Is it entertaining, easy to follow and has a message? Yes. Did Tom Hanks deliver ANOTHER fantastic performance? Yes. Did Julia Roberts do just as good? Yes. Is there chemistry between the two leads? YES.

Did Tom Hanks direct and co-write (along with “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”’s Nia Vardalos) “Larry Crowne”? Yes.

There is my evidence why this could be “perfect”.

Story is about a man who loses a job he’s held for years because he lacked a college education. It happens.

Crowne (played by Hanks) decides to go to college for the first time. It is here where he discovers a simple message so many of us forget- that life does go on after something bad happens. Sometimes, life actually gets better. You know the saying “when one door closes, another opens”? That might be going through your mind when the end credits roll.

Look for hilarious performances by Cedric The Entertainer (who plays Crowne’s neighbor- wait until you find out how he made his money), Wilmer Valderrama (Fez!), George Takei (Sulu from Star Trek- there’s another Trekkie reference in the movie by the way) and HBO’s “The Pacific” star Rami Malek who plays the role of “Stoner Dude” to perfection.

If you need a feel good movie, this one’s for you. And you don’t even need to be on a date.

See? It’s perfect.
