First Look: J.K. Rowling’s ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Photos Released

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

New images from the film, J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, have been released!

The prequel takes place in New York City – 70 years before we are introduced to Harry and his Hogwarts friends – and follows a man named Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) through his adventures as he develops a reference guide for magical beasts.

The adaptation, penned by Rowling, is directed by David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter installments. Rowling revealed to Entertainment Weekly that in America, the wizarding community uses the word “No-Maj” (pronounced ‘no madge’ as in ‘no magic) to reference someone who isn’t a wizard – rather than the term “Muggle.”

Check out the new photos from Fantastic Beasts below, which feature Redmayne and co-stars Katherine Waterston (Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein), Alison Sudol (Queenie Golddstein) and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski).
