Sarah Polley To Adapt John Green’s ‘Looking For Alaska’

Fans of John Green will be excited to know that The Fault in Our Stars author will be adapting his very first novel, Looking for Alaska, into a movie.

Paramount Pictures has signed on actress and filmmaker Sarah Polley to adapt and direct the award-winning 2005 novel. Polley made her directorial debut with Away From Her in 2006. She won the Writers Guild of America award this year for best documentary script for Stories We Tell.

Green confirmed the news on Twitter, writing, “So excited to announce that the brilliant filmmaker Sarah Polley will be writing and directing a film adaptation of Looking for Alaska. I’m a HUGE fan of Sarah’s movies, and her ideas about Looking for Alaska are really wonderful, and I am SO VERY EXCITED.”

Young adult novel Looking for Alaska is a coming-of-age story, which takes place at a boarding school. The tale follows new student Miles “Pudge” Halter who has his heart stolen by a girl named Alaska Young. The fascinating and beautiful female student captivates most males at the school, but is also dangerously reckless.

Paper Towns, another novel from Green, has been announced to be adapted into a movie, with Fault in Our Star’s Nat Wolff set to star.
