Seth Meyers Will Host the 2014 Emmy Awards

Former SNL cast member and now Late Night host Seth Meyers has been announced as the host of the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards.

“Seth’s expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on SNL and Late Night, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys,” Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of late night and alternative programming, said in a statement.

This will not be Seth’s first Emmy awards, but it will be his first time hosting it. Seth won an Emmy in 2011 for “Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics” on Saturday Night Live. Seth was a cast member and a writer on SNL for over a decade.

“Seth is such a talented performer and writer, and we know he will bring something unique to hosting the Prime-time Emmy Awards,” added chief executive and chairman of the Television Academy Bruce Rosenblum.

Prior Emmy hosts include Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Lynch, SNL alumni Jimmy Fallon, and Neil Patrick Harris who hosted the 2013 Emmy Awards. The 2014 Emmys will be produced by Don Mischer, best known for producing the Super Bowl halftime shows, Olympic Games openings, the Oscars and more.

The 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on NBC on August 25, live from the Los Angeles Nokia Theatre.
