Yahoo and ABC Create “Game-Changing” Partnership

By Pete Souza, White House

Yahoo Inc. and ABC News have joined forces to bring more online news to their audiences.

The new partnership will make ABC News articles the primary featured content on Yahoo News and create an audience “the size of the Super Bowl” says ABC News President Ben Sherwood. With over 100 million users a month in the U.S. alone, the new deal will help further the reach of ABC News online and drive new users to Yahoo News.

As a result of the deal ABC News will be launching an online-only news series entitled “Newsmakers” that will launch with a live interview of President Barack Obama with George Stephanopoulos on Monday afternoon.

ABC’s Katie Couric calls the deal an “incredible opportunity to do extended interviews” and develop deeper into subjects without the constraints of “TV time.”

Both companies will be able to retain editorial freedom of their content.
